Planting sweet peas.

Mrs Simpson gave us these flower pots and seeds.  We had to soak them in warm water.  They got bigger and bigger.  We put the sweet pea seeds into the little pots.  We need to leave them alone for a few day and we hope that they will grow. 

The Duffy Theatre

Today the Duffy theatre came to school.  The main characters were Duffy, Scruffy and Marvel.  Other characters were Emily, Rocky Mr Lobb - the librarian, Wiremu and the pirate. 
The places that they pretended to be were Duffy and Scruffy's home, the library, the bookshop, at sea and in space.

It was exquisite.  After the show they gave out the NZ Post Effort in Reading and Writing awards to Cody, Amber and Harmony.

Our volcano

Today at school we made a volcano in the sandpit.  Mrs Z mixed baking soda and food colouring in a shallow bowl and then added white vinegar.  Red lava exploded down the sides of the volcano.  We did this because of the Mount Tongoriro erruption.  In the real erruption no lava came out, only ash and rocks.  Thanks to our photographer - Keirah-jayde.

Javelin medals

Congratulations to yesterdays Javelin winners.  You did a fabulous job.

Congratulations to our class Uni-hoc medalist.  You can be very proud of yourselves.

New sports

As part of our Olympics theme we have been learning new sports.  one is Unihoc which is like hockey.  The other thing we have tried is using The ribbons for Ryhmic Gymnastics.

Our torch relay.

On Friday we held a torch relay around the school with room 3.  We made pretend torches.  We had to touch the next person's torch to pretend light it.  Brooke was the final relay person.  She stood on the seats under the shelter.

Term 3

speech competitions

Well done to all the students who participated in our speech final durning the week.  I was so nice to hear the children talking about 'their treasures.'

The School cross country race.

Today we had the school cross country race.  Congratulations to 
Brydyn Newland-Minns - Junior Boys Champion and 
Zahara Timu-Te Ture - Junior Girls Champion.  Well done also to Lathaniel - 2nd and Zack 3rd.  
All the children ran really well and finished the race.

Self discipline

At school we use self discipline.  How do the children use self discipline at home?
Zahara uses self discipline by not shouting.
Brydyn uses self discipline to play nicely. 
Lathaniel uses it to not steal things.
Losana and Lucas use it to work quietly.
Leighton uses self discipline to do his writing.
Jayden uses self discipline to listen to Mrs Zander.
Heyleh uses it to sit nicely on the mat.
Lil-John uses self discipline to use his quiet voice.
Kierra uses it to write her letters.
Angel uses self discipline to not touch other peoples things.

Space

Jayden found out that the sun is the most hottest thing in the world.  Brydyn said the Earth is not flat but is a round ball.  Zahara knows that the Earth is small and the sun is big.  Sima remembers that the sun shines on the Earth and the moon.  Lil-John found out that the sun makes us hot.  Kierra listened and found out that the sun shines on Earth and makes blue sky. Kierah-jayde talked about the aliens on Earth.   Tyreese told us that at night the sky is black and when the sun comes out you get up.  Zack remembers that our sun is really a star.  We see it during the day because it is the closest star to us.

Soccer

Shane Rufer comes to our school on Thursday afternoons to teach us soccer skills and how to play.

Garden

This term we have helped to plant the garden and fruit trees.  We are looking forward to seeing them grow.

Handprint peacocks

We made handprint peacocks as our artworks for the hall display.  Please come in and have a closer look at them.

Term 2.

Welcome back to term 2.  This term for theme we are studying space.  We will be wondering about what's out there and finding out information about our sun.

Term 2.

Welcome back to school. We hope you had a exquisite holiday.

This week we are learning about Anzac Day.

Thai Student

We had some Thai teachers come to look at how we learn. We read stories to them. We sung our alphabet song. We showed them how we can use the computers to find out stuff.

This is Mr Lobb. He is our Student Teacher.

This man came From ASB to teach us about money. He was funny.

Whaea Shari's baby

Whaea Shari came to visit us. This is her baby. Her name is Ruiha.

Unity

When we all work together to complete something then we are working with Unity. We tried to pass a pen from one door to the other using unity. When everybody didn't help we couldn't do it but we could do it when everyone did their bit.

Roslyn sports Day

Some children from Roslyn School came to our school for a sports day. We won the trophy. Next time we will go to Roslyn School for the sports day.

Moon hoppers

We played on the moon hoppers from Sport Manawatu. They were lots of fun.

Valentines Day

For Valentines Day we decorated these heart shaped biscuits with pink icing and edible glitter. We also made cards and pictures using the shapes from Mrs Zs cuttlebug.
