Planting sweet peas.

Mrs Simpson gave us these flower pots and seeds.  We had to soak them in warm water.  They got bigger and bigger.  We put the sweet pea seeds into the little pots.  We need to leave them alone for a few day and we hope that they will grow. 

The Duffy Theatre

Today the Duffy theatre came to school.  The main characters were Duffy, Scruffy and Marvel.  Other characters were Emily, Rocky Mr Lobb - the librarian, Wiremu and the pirate. 
The places that they pretended to be were Duffy and Scruffy's home, the library, the bookshop, at sea and in space.

It was exquisite.  After the show they gave out the NZ Post Effort in Reading and Writing awards to Cody, Amber and Harmony.

Our volcano

Today at school we made a volcano in the sandpit.  Mrs Z mixed baking soda and food colouring in a shallow bowl and then added white vinegar.  Red lava exploded down the sides of the volcano.  We did this because of the Mount Tongoriro erruption.  In the real erruption no lava came out, only ash and rocks.  Thanks to our photographer - Keirah-jayde.

Congratulations to yesterdays Javelin winners.  You did a fabulous job.

Congratulations to our class Uni-hoc medalist.  You can be very proud of yourselves.

New sports

As part of our Olympics theme we have been learning new sports.  one is Unihoc which is like hockey.  The other thing we have tried is using The ribbons for Ryhmic Gymnastics.

Our torch relay.

On Friday we held a torch relay around the school with room 3.  We made pretend torches.  We had to touch the next person's torch to pretend light it.  Brooke was the final relay person.  She stood on the seats under the shelter.
